I feel like I need clarify my Maternity and Newborn sessions. I’m not really sure what other photographers do but read below to get an idea of how I operate. (Birth Story Sessions are not covered in this post. Contact me if you want information on those. 801-718-4906)
With the Maternity sessions, they are best done during the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy. We decide on a location. It can be anywhere you like, something that represents your lifestyle or just a place with pretty backgrounds. You wear what you want to wear in some of the photos, and you can bring a second outfit to change into if you want. I have three different maternity dresses for you to choose from. They are one size fits all and mostly the same dress, but in different colors. Its best if you wear some bottoms that you are comfortable showing. They can be any light color, I will make them the same color as the dress in post processing. I have props that I bring, and benches and stools if needed. If you have ideas of poses you like, be sure to let me know, or invite me to follow you on Pinterest so that I can get the shots you want.
With the Newborn sessions, they are best done during the first 2 weeks of the baby’s life. If the baby is older than that, it is ok, we can still do them. They just sleep better and curl up into a ball more comfortably during the first two weeks. But there are darling poses we can do at any age. Feel free to bring items to include in the photos if you want, but it isn’t necessary. I have everything needed for the session, no matter the gender. All the things you see in the newborn photos I post, are things that I have. The swaddling blankets, the props the baby is in or on, the bows or ties. I have so many things to choose from! Just let me know if there is something you have seen that you want to be sure to use. I have so many different things that we couldn’t possibly use it all in every session. As always, you will receive all the edited images electronically with a print release.
